Selecting An Effective Vision System For Quality Assurance Applications
By Rob Rogers

Regardless of the industry, quality control is one of the most important stages of the production process. For producers of packaged goods, the quality of a product's package and labeling is the last chance to convince a consumer a product is worth buying.
As automation enables faster and faster manufacturing speeds, the risks of relying on manual package inspection or random sampling grow exponentially. Product recalls, legal action, or government intervention can all occur as a result of poor package quality control, and the only way to know for certain that all product packaging is up to quality control standards is to inspect every package as it comes down the production line. Implementing a quality control program which utilizes automated vision inspection helps to ensure every product meets the standards set by the manufacturer.
