In part two of FSMA Fridays: FDA Listeria Guidance, SafetyChain Software’s VP of Marketing, Jill Bender and The Acheson Group’s (TAG) CEO and Founder Dr. David Acheson began discussing the FDA’s Listeria Guidance Document. Here, in part three, Bender and Dr. Acheson will continue their conversation on the topic at hand, as well the FDA’s zone one through zone four approach to controlling environmental pathogens.

Jill: I know you've mentioned many guidance documents in the past as they've been coming out, so does this one provide a practical approach, as you've mentioned, beyond some of the other ones?

David: It does, it does. And I will likely get into this in a moment or two, but there are some red flags in this guidance document as well. So, I think that part of what I was thinking on this is to sort of begin to look at some of the specific details in there and say "Well, if we followed this guidance by the letter, what exactly is it asking us to do? And will it get us in trouble?" And I'm sort of like, "Yeah, I think it might if we're not kind of keeping our eyes and our ears open as we move forward.”

Jill: Well, interesting. That probably leads us to that next question, when you were waiting to talk about the pros and cons of Zone 1 testing that, they're suggesting.
