Vietnamese Province Ba Ria — Vung Tau implements TE-FOOD For Pig Traceability

The Goverment of Ba Ria — Vung Tau, a province in the Southeast region of Vietnam decided to implement TE-FOOD’s blockchain based traceability solution to track and trace pigs from farm to table in the province.

Ba Ria — Vung Tau is well known amongst tourists due to its long beaches, or the popular Christ of Vũng Tàu statue. It’s also an important region economically, as the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port complex is a major gateway for international shipments in Southeast Asia.

The Government’s Department of Industry and Trade planned a province-wide traceability program to provide transparency towards consumers about the food they eat. They chose TE-FOOD’s solution for the project. The traceability structure will include new participants: besides retailers, it will be implemented at educational institution kitchens, catering services (e.g. hospital kitchens), and restaurants as well.

Trainings for veterinary officials and supply chain representatives started in December, 2019, and will continue in Q1, 2020.

“The traceability program of Ba Ria — Vung Tau shows the local government’s commitment to food safety, and the growing importance of transparency in the food industry. Transparent food information is not only beneficial to improve tourism, but also important for local residents.” Trung Dao Ha — Chairman, TE-FOOD.
