Version 5 of DeltaV Process Automation System Now Available
The DeltaV automation system offers manufacturers short engineering cycles, fast installations, quick startups, and low operations and maintenance costs. The newly released Version 5 now includes more busses, more embedded advanced control, more batch, and greater ease.
DeltaV System-wide
Any Size System. DeltaV I/O capacity doubles to 30,000 I/O. The system can directly connect 120 nodes. Dozens of additional remote workstations can be connected.
Remote Workstations. DeltaV can be engineered and operated via remote networks including local area networks, wide area networks, dial-up, microwave, and satellite communications. Remote workstations can be connected via the ProfessionalPLUS Station or Application Station, providing dozens of additional windows into a user's process.
System-Wide Controller Licenses. Delivers simplified licensing of controller software. No longer will users purchase and manage multiple licenses for each controller in their system. Instead, they will purchase a single, system-wide license for control no matter how many controllers they have in a system.
Hardware
Profibus DP Interface. Communicates easily with Profibus DP devices. Signals from these devices are treated just like classic I/O, so control is completely transparent. No mapping. Add devices online, without interrupting control.
AS-i Interface. Add inexpensive, discrete AS-i devices easily into the DeltaV system. All signals from the devices are treated as I/O signals so they, too, are transparent. No gateways, no mapping.
Multifunction Card. Provides capability for pulse inputs up to 50 kHz and provides accumulation functionality.
Redundant Fieldbus Power. Delivers secure, redundant power to the fieldbus segment with this new power conditioner. Energy limitations ensure non-incendive installation.
I/O G3 Certification. Complies with ISA G3 corrosion specifications with superior electronic components and the use of conformal coating.
M5 Plus Controller. Provides a 20 percent performance increase over the M5 controllers for DeltaV v4.2 and version 5 software. This controller works great with v3.2 - for performance realization, simply upgrade your system to v5.1.
Software
Tip of the Day. Adds helpful hints to the DeltaV Explorer, Control Studio, and Recipe Studio, giving suggestions on easier ways to more efficiently work with the DeltaV system.
DeltaV Operate. Provides state-of-the-art operator graphics with a whole new way to configure. The display configuration includes familiar technologies such as: Visual Basic for Applications for display scripting, and the Explorer look and feel for navigation to easily find and modify displays.
System Alarm Management. Provides an application with a single view to compare, analyze and modify alarms. All of the modules within a unit or area are displayed, with only the alarms shown.
Advanced Alarming. Eliminates nuisance alarms easily. Operators can suppress alarms caused from faulty equipment and view all of the suppressed alarms in a single summary. Engineers can configure alarm enable and delay times with DeltaV conditional alarming.
Unit Alarm Display. Adds units under areas in the DeltaV Explorer for alarm management. These units summarize the alarms in modules under them. Pre-built unit alarm faceplate and detail displays show the highest priority alarms for the modules within the unit-in one easy key click.
DeltaV Remote Access Service. Operate, engineer and diagnose your DeltaV system from your desktop. Remote Access Service is specially designed to efficiently serve data over slower, expensive WAN connections-ideal in applications where satellite communications are required.
Easier Engineering. Version 5 adds an Undo function and the ability to add URLs into the engineering applications like Control Studio, DeltaV Explorer, and Recipe Studio. Now users can easily browse to custom help, operating procedures, loop diagrams, and more.
Integrated Equipment Hierarchy. Completely implementing S88.01 equipment and procedure models, the DeltaV system's class-based development tools reduce costs for software design, implementation, test, validation, and maintenance.
Engineering Tools Performance. Improves performance for verifying class-based unit modules and loading recipes and provides an overall improvement in engineering tools. A more efficient mechanism for database access speeds up the database access function for more rapid engineering.
Drawing Tools. Improves the presentation of documentation in Control Studio, with a palette of drawing tools similar to that in Microsoft PowerPoint.
Signal References. Speeds up faultfinding and improves documentation. Users can now turn on a preference in Control Studio to see the source and destination of a signal, improving readability of the control strategy.
SFC Transition Viewer. Reduce downtime, speed up faultfinding, and maximize debug capabilities by viewing SFC transitions in online mode.
Tailor-made Configuration. With System Preferences, users can now tailor the DeltaV system to suit their needs. By selecting to hide functionality, DeltaV configuration shows only the options that are valid for a particular application.
Quicker Navigation. Adds a shortcut bar in the DeltaV Explorer, which behaves just like the shortcut bar in Microsoft Outlook.
HTML Help. Books Online, now in HTML format, is better organized, making searches easier and allowing you to link in user-defined HTML help files.
Web Server. Adds real-time trending with adjustable time scales and navigation links for easier browsing.
Advanced Control
DeltaV Fuzzy is now a standard part of every DeltaV system that includes a system-wide Control software license. In addition, DeltaV Tune for tuning both PID and fuzzy logic loops is now a standard part of the ProfessionalPLUS Station software suite.
DeltaV Tune Stability Analysis. This new feature adds stability analysis and loop simulation features that allow users to adjust tuning parameters - so the loop can be set for optimal response to setpoint or disturbance changes or to a stable control setting unique to a particular application.
Multivariable, Model-based Controller. Integrates the SMOC multivariable, model-based optimizing controller when a user purchases MDC Technology's SMOC process optimization product. The SMOC controller running in a DeltaV Application Station communicates seamlessly to SMOC composite blocks configured in Control Studio.
Graphic dynamos and a built-in MPC operator application eliminate operator interface development.
Batch
Campaign Manager. Provides an optional, easy-to-use interface for creating, modifying and executing campaigns. Campaign Manager also provides a comprehensive campaign execution history that is automatically stored in the Batch Historian database, along with all of the associated batch historical data. Campaign reports may be generated using the standard DeltaV Batch Historian reporting tools.
View the recipe, formula, batch IDs, and equipment defined for any campaign. See the current status of any batch, as well as any modifications made to a particular batch.
Campaign Manager includes a comprehensive API that lets users develop MES/ERP applications to interact with the Campaign Manager and programmatically create campaigns.
Electronic Signature Support. Secures batch operations by automatically requiring a user name and password. Operator confirmation and verification options support the use of electronic batch records. Signatures are stored, along with the action that was performed, as part of the batch's history.
Configuration Audit Trail. Controls, manages, and tracks changes in the DeltaV configuration database. Also supports electronic recordkeeping per 21 CFR Part 11.
Ordering Batch Made Easy. Three levels of batch licensing most typically used eliminate the need to order components separately:
- Basic Batch -- includes Batch Executive
- Advanced Batch -- includes Batch Executive, Batch Historian and Soft Phase Server
- Professional Batch -- includes Batch Executive, Batch Historian, Soft Phase Server and Campaign Manager
Batch Historian. Now runs as an NT service for added security, so it can start automatically when NT is started and remains running even when a user logs off the system.
Batch Operator Interface. Provides operators with even more information about what the batch is doing by displaying comments, transition descriptions and step descriptions in the graphical view of a recipe. Formula information has also been added to the displays in Batch Operator Interface.
Electronic Operator Log. During batch executive, operators can enter comments that are automatically captured and stored as part of the batch's history.
Since 1996, the DeltaV system has been commissioned in automation applications across the globe in projects ranging from 8 I/O up to 30,000 I/O. Applications include Pharmaceuticals and Biotechs, Food & Beverage, Oil, Gas, & Hydrocarbons, Chemicals and Specialty Chemicals, Pulp & Paper, and Metals, Mining, & Minerals.
