Velcro Companies Receives Global Food Packaging Certification
Velcro Companies has announced that it has received BRC/IoP certification. The certification affirms the company’s adherence to a strict globally recognized standard for food packaging and is expected to speed the adoption of the VELCRO® Brand PRESS-LOK® closure system by food manufacturers around the world.
Scott Filion, President of the Americas, said: “With this certification, our customers in the food manufacturing sector can be assured that Velcro Companies offers the highest safety and hygiene standards in the marketplace. As a result, we expect more companies around the world to integrate the PRESS-LOK® solution into their flexible packaging products.”
The BRC/IoP Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials aims to assist packaging manufacturers and converters in adopting “good manufacturing processes and supporting quality management systems to develop and manufacture safe, legal packaging materials.” PRESS-LOK® closures are manufactured exclusively at the Velcro Companies facility in Manchester, New Hampshire, which was evaluated to the BRC/IoP Standard and received the highest rating (“A”). Additional global locations for production of the PRESS-LOK® line are being planned.
The VELCRO® Brand PRESS-LOK® closure is a durable, easy-to-use fastening technology that was developed for the fast-growing flexible packaging market and enables consumers to achieve an effective seal without the need for tedious and precise line-up. PRESS-LOK® delivers the reliability, durability and strength that consumers have come to expect from other VELCRO® Brand products and has been integrated into a wide variety of consumer product packaging including pet foods, detergent pods, cheese, protein powder, granola, coffee and nuts.
