Unilever and Cains Foods Announce Business Changes
Unilever has agreed to sell the salad and dressings business of Fritz Homann Lebensmittelwerke GmbH to Gilde Investment Management, a Netherlands-based investment fund.
The transaction is part of Unilever's strategy to concentrate on its core activities. Homann's salad and dressings business will be amalgamated with the activities a German salad and dressing company owned by Gilde to create a new salad and dressing group in Germany.
In separate news, Cains Foods (Ayers, MA), a manufacturer and marketer of mayonnaise, pickles, relishes, salad dressings and sauces to the supermarket and food service industries, will be distributing all Olde Cape Cod products and handling all administrative functions including order processing and customer billing.
"This joint agreement will combine the strengths of both companies and accelerate the growth of Olde Cape Cod Food Products," said John Mincielli, Olde Cape Cod's founder.
Minicielli will continue to be responsible for sales development and introduction of new products along with Cains Foods.
Olde Cape Cod Foods (Yarmouth, MA) markets a premium line of salad dressings, soups, oyster crackers and fruit spreads primarily to supermarkets.
