UNiGY Pump System Simplifies Pump Control For Washdown Applications

Queensbury, NY – Kadant AES, a division of Kadant Inc. and a global provider of fluid process solutions, offers the UNiGY pump-control system, an exclusive and patented control technology for high-pressure positive displacement process pumps. Equipped with UNiGY PhD (Pump-modeling hydraulic Drive technology), the system employs mathematical models to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs for washdown applications in the food and beverage industries.

Compatible with both clean-in-place (CIP) and steam-in-place (SIP) operations, UNiGY technology employs intelligent pump-control software to produce the precise flow rates and pressures demanded by the application, and no more. The UNiGY PhD technology continually senses demand and manages pump speed and applied torque to satisfy variations in process demand, significantly lowering energy consumption and costs normally associated with maintaining an overworked system. An elegantly simple system, UNiGY technology eliminates the need for additional feedback components, enabling simplified and more precise control.

For processes where hydraulic demand is intermittent, the UNiGY pump-control technology can reduce maintenance costs and extend pump life. This is achieved by slowing pump speed when flow is not required while using torque management technology to maintain desired system pressure at all flow rates. One food processing plant reported energy savings of over $20,000 per year using UNiGY technology on a 40 gpm, 850 psi system.

UNiGY pump-control technology can be retrofitted into existing process systems and incorporated into new installations. The technology reduces system complexity by eliminating the need for flow and pressure sensors and control valves.

About UNiGY Pump-Control Technology UNiGY pump-control technology is a patented technology that utilizes pump-modeling software in closed-loop Flux Vector Drives for hydraulic power generation and to monitor and control high pressure positive displacement pumps. Distinct from VFD technology, UNiGY PhD (Pump-modeling hydraulic Drive) technology provides
