Tucker Safety's BurnGuard Products Reduce Bacterial Contamination

Colorado Springs, CO - Tucker Safety Products, Inc., a provider of protective apparel for foodservice and kitchen operations, announced BurnGuard Effective Protective Apparel products with VaporGuard material. This line of products, including NSF-certified oven mitts, as well as aprons, pot holders and specialty items, guard against bacterial contamination, hot liquids, steam, high temperatures and open flame.

"Our BurnGuard products are the essence of the company," says Vincent Tucker, president of Tucker Safety Products. "BurnGuard products increase safety and sanitation while providing high-quality, 100%-satisfaction-guaranteed, protective apparel."

The VaporGuard barrier is made of material that prevents hot liquids (boiling water, hot oil and hot grease) from reaching the skin of the wearer. It will not burn, melt, crack, turn brittle or otherwise break down when exposed to 500ยบ F temperatures for extended periods of time.

BurnGuard products feature:

  • Completely washable for sanitation and to eliminate cross-contamination
  • VaporGuard material inhibits the growth of bacteria
  • Works wet or dry, without the risk of steam burns
  • Can withstand over 70 commercial launderings
  • Oven mitts and gloves contain interchangeable liners for easy cleaning
  • 100% Satisfaction Guarantee

To receive NSF Certification, Tucker oven mitts were laboratory tested, and shown to comply with all requirements of NSF Protocol P149: Oven Mitts used in Commercial Food Service. The protocol evaluates the heat and flame resistance, durability and cleanability features of oven mitts to reduce the risks of bacterial cross-contamination and burn injury.

BurnGuard oven mitts are guaranteed to last a minimum of 10 times longer than cotton quilted mitts. "That means that some of our customers have experienced a 400% decrease in their protective apparel replacement costs," says Tucker. In one test performed by Tucker and a large fast-food customer, Tucker's BurnGuard oven mitt was tested after more than 15 months of use. The mitt was still in great usable shape, compared to the customer's previous cotton-quilted oven mitts that had to be replaced every two weeks. The BurnGuard mitt lasted more than 30 times longer than the cotton-quilted mitt.

"Having the NSF Mark on Tucker's products sends consumers and regulators a clear message that Tucker makes safety and quality of their products a top priority," says William Fisher, vice president and chief marketing officer for NSF.
