Transform Your Process And Packaging Precision With ABB

Visit stand C62 at the forthcoming PPMA Exhibition on the 25-27th September at the NEC in Birmingham to discover the latest processing and packaging equipment from ABB, including motion control solutions for product labelling.
The stand will feature various live demonstrations of ABB’s latest equipment, including ABB’s smallest ever multipurpose robot, the compact, agile and lightweight, six-axis, IRB 120. Ideal for pick and place applications, the IRB 120 is now available as an ISO 5 (Class 100) cleanroom version, ideal for food and beverage, pharmaceutical and packaging applications.
ABB’s new small robot offers all the functionality and expertise of the ABB range in a much smaller package, helping to reduce the footprint of robotic cells. Its size, combined with its lightweight design makes the IRB 120 a cost-effective and reliable choice for generating high production outputs in return for a minimal investment.
The stand will also feature live demonstrations of ABB’s motion control solutions for product labelling. Visitors can discover how labels are automatically affixed to a product using ABB’s MINT programming language.
MINT – Motion INTellligence – is a structured BASIC-like language, optimised for motion control. It radically, speeds and simplifies the programming process by providing an easy-to-use approach to programming. Using MINT, a sensor on the conveyor detects an oncoming product, at which point the label is indexed. A sensor on the label can then accurately detect the label position and precisely place it onto the bottle or boxed product.
Another of the live exhibits on the stand will feature ABB’s IRB 120 robot demonstrating safety products from Jokab Safety’s (part of the ABB Group) Focus Safety Light Curtains and Light Grids. The Focus product line is designed to be the most reliable and easy to use presence sensing devices on the market, helping ensure machine safety to protect your employees and manufacturing operations.
Joining these exhibits will be two of ABB’s second generation IRB 360 FlexPicker robots. Ideal for pick and place applications, a dual cell featuring the FlexPicker’s will demonstrate PickMaster, ABB’s programming software specially designed for the packaging industry and palletising integrators.
Visitors to stand C62 can discover how PickMaster’s power vision identification and inspection tools combined with a high performance conveyor tracking process makes true flexible production a success. Demonstrations will specifically look at the orientation of products on the conveyor and how no matter what position, robotic automation offers the application tools needed for an efficient high speed picking application.
