Tomra Sorting Food To Show Fruits Of Their Labour At Fruit Logistica

TOMRA Sorting Food will demonstrate two of its latest innovations for the fresh produce sector at Fruit Logistica.

The manufacturer will showcase the Modus, a new size grader for potatoes, and the Falcon, a cost-effective pre sorter for baby leaves, in hall 4.1 at booth D-09 during the event which takes place at the Messe Berlin Fair Grounds, Germany, February 4-6.

The revolutionary Modus size grader for washed potatoes is able to grade produce by length or width or both simultaneously, unlike most mechanical sorters which grade by width only. It can handle up to 45,000kg of product per hour and can be used as a standalone grader or included in the production line after quality sorting has taken place.

Processors using the Modus benefit from consistent and accurate sizing in up to 3 sizes and sorting by weight. The machine is also supported by a user-friendly touchscreen system which illustrates product streams and enables adjustments to be made easily.

Meanwhile, the Falcon pre-sorter detects and removes unwanted material brought on to the production line from the field, such as droppings, rodents, bugs, plastic, wood, soil clumps and stones. It means that most contamination and foreign objects are removed from processing at an early stage and ensures sorters further down the production line operate more efficiently to produce a high quality, food safe, final product.

The Falcon meets all the stringent hygiene requirements of the fresh cut industry and has a low carbon footprint helping customers to improve energy efficiency and reduce associated costs. Its compact design means it can be integrated into existing production lines reducing disruption to customers’ operations.
