Tenneco Packaging Acquires Ovenable Paperboard Tray Facility
Tenneco Packaging (Lake Forest, IL) has announced that it has acquired Champion International's ovenable paperboard tray facility in Belvidere, IL.
The 129,000 sqft plant manufactures food containers primarily for the packer-processor market. Tenneco presently manufactures ovenable paperboard containers in Columbus, OH. These products are sold primarily to packer-processors, but also to fast food, supermarket, bakery and other markets, are sold under the Pressware brand.
"We are committed to being a multi-material supplier to the growing Home Meal Replacement (HMR) market," said Richard L. Wambold, executive vice president of Tenneco's Specialty Packaging unit. "With this new capacity in ovenable paperboard, we can assure our customers of an even greater choice among various plastics, foam, molded fiber and aluminum, as well as pressed paperboard."
