FOSS NIRSystems, Inc.ission systems are used for analysis of clear to opaque fluids applications that include viscous sauces, dressings, dairy products, additives, sugars, starches concentrates, and sweeteners. The systems use two fiber optic bundles that are terminated with stainless steel probes.

The light energy is carried from one bundle and transmitted through the sample where the non-absorbing light is collected and processed for information as to constituent concentrations. The sample never leaves the pipe and is uncorrupted. Clients can readily transfer applications developed on the Food and Beverage System as well as the Routine Food Analyzers on-line for the same application.

Integration of the systems into existing closed-loop process control strategies can be achieved by using isolated 4-20 mA current loops, serial communications, or digital outputs. The analyzers require no special sample handling or reagents to dispose. Since the systems are 3A compliant, they are food safe and can be CIP without posing environmental and HACCP risks.

Process Analytics Systems are designed for seamless integration into process control strategies. The near infrared (NIR) analyzers provide measurement stability and performance for analysis of clear to opaque liquids, slurries, suspensions, and solids. The analyzers can minimize start-up time, determine exact ingredient profiles, optimize product consistency, and monitor starting materials and products directly in the process stream.
