Scientific Technologies (STI), Automation Sensors Division, introduces the SF Series Paddle Flow Switch. The SF series features high life expectancy because the paddle movement is transmitted to the switch through a flexible bellow, while the ABS housing provides an attractive design and high corrosion resistance. Unitized construction and reduced parts make it easy to assemble, and its compact size facilitates easy field-installation.

Operation of the SF Series is simple. A reactive force is induced in the paddle in proportion to the rate of flow in the pipe, and the reaction generates a proportional resistance in the control spring. As a result, a variable force balance is maintained between the flow and the control spring until the flow exceeds a set flow rate. When the flow reaches the set point, the reaction plate activates the micro-switch to make or break the contacts.

STI has been selected twice by Forbes and three times by Business Week as one of the "world's best small companies." STI's Automation Products Group serves the factory automation, semiconductor, transportation, oil and gas, consumer and food processing industries with a diversified offering of sensing technologies. Products include level, flow, pressure sensing, positioning transducers, vehicle separation, profiling and ultrasonic sensors and controls.
