Elkhorn, WI - San Jamar has introduced a new, chemical-free sanitizing food safety system that safely and naturally prevents food-borne illness from contaminated foods. The Saf-T-Wash Food Sanitizing System by San Jamar uses ozone sanitizing technology, a natural, FDA-approved process that has been proven to be the most effective at eliminating dangerous bacteria and viruses found on food.

The CDC estimates that 76 million food poisoning cases occur in the United States every year from people eating foods contaminated with such pathogens as E. coli, Salmonella, Hepatitis A, Campylobacter, Shigella, Norovirus, and Listeria.

Ozone sanitizing food safety technology has been used for years to treat bottled water and in large-scale food processing. Now, food operators can apply this powerful sanitizing food safety method to every type of food service operation and significantly reduce the risk of illness caused by bacteria on produce, fruit, meat, and fish. It also eliminates any concerns that come with chemical washes.

The Saf-T-Wash Food Sanitizer System saves food operators time and money by extending the shelf life of foods. The process kills enzymes that spoil vegetables, reducing the amount of waste and the frequency of produce preparation.

Jayson Pearl, director of Marketing/Foodservice for San Jamar, says operators should consider the significant cost savings afforded by the system. "When you take into account conservative chemical costs, labor savings, and reduced food waste, we estimate the system pays for itself in three to six months."

The Saf-T-Wash Food Sanitizing System is a simple step to naturally sanitize food, and is easy to install and operate. Once the system is mounted to a wall above the sink, it simply attaches to the sink faucet and is plugged into a nearby electrical outlet.

The National Restaurant Association recently named the Saf-T-Wash Food Sanitizing System a recipient of the prestigious 2008 Kitchen Innovations (KI) Award. The product will be showcased at the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show at Chicago's McCormick Place, May 17-20, 2008.
