A Midwest convenience store chain makes a slushy flavoring that uses the basic flavor concentrate, sugar, and xanthan gum.
Previously, they were adding all dry ingredients into the top of their tanks then mixing them over a period of 4-6 hours.
The biggest problem was blending five pounds of xanthan gum as a stabilizer. They mixed it in five-gallon buckets before adding to the top of their tanks, but still would have clumps of gum that would take several hours to blend.
They decided to run a trial Powder Mixer with an FS 3532 and FZX 2200. Fristam designed a smaller, metering funnel that was position above the regular funnel. This is where the customer now adds the five pounds of xanthan gum at a much slower rate.
The overall blending of their slushy mix has been reduced from 4-6 hours to less than one hour.
