The Pallet-less Dairy Case System is an automated storage and retrieval system with a transport shuttle design that allows 16 and 24 quart case loads, as well as standard pallets, to be handled within the same system. The plastic dairy cases are formed into unit loads, which are then transported to and from storage without the use of pallets. The transport shuttle drives itself into the storage lane to deposit or retrieve loads, allowing high-density storage up to 50 ft on either side of the storage retrieval machine. The system provides throughput of 70–80 loads/hr, and operates in automatic, semi-automatic, or manual mode.
