Organic Growth Requires A New Approach

An organic baby food company selects GSQA® to meet growing demand with better management of co-manufacturers and suppliers.

Downers Grove, IL (PRWEB) Mothers want the best for their babies, and for increasing numbers in recent years that means natural and organic products that promise fewer mystery ingredients and a reduced risk of contamination during complex manufacturing processes. A small company in California was one of the first to identify this opportunity and create products that babies love and mothers trust. After several decades of slow growth they began experiencing a dramatic increase in demand from local markets and national chains.

The Challenge

One side effect of producing and marketing organic products is that regulatory (and market) standards require more proof that the sources of the products have been properly certified and audited, to justify the term “organic.” This combination led to a need within the company for either more quality audit staff or a better approach to gathering and tracking this information.

After a new Quality Director was hired from a much larger food company, she began researching the requirements and discussing possible solutions. She decided that a web-based approach would be needed that would automatically collect data and documents from suppliers and co-manufacturers, and analyze the results.

The Solution

Global Supplier Quality Assurance (GSQA®) met her criteria for a modular solution that could be deployed quickly but grow to meet more complex requirements. The initial phase will manage workflows to satisfy regulatory and industry certification standards. Later phases will add COA validation, SPC analysis, nonconformances and corrective actions.

GSQA will enable this company to meet its “organic” requirements naturally!
