Optimizing Baby Cereals Hydration

A large international manufacturer of baby cereal approached Quadro to help them in the fabrication of their product. The cereal, a combination of rice flour, vitamins and nutrients needed to be sized correctly to ensure that when mixed with water, it would hydrate properly to produce a suitable consistency. The manufacturer needed a reliable method to consistently size the material inline without generating fines. The required rate of production was 6000 lb/hr and a particle size distribution of 100% below 10 mesh (1700 microns).
A Quadro® Comil® was located under the collection bin to size the material. The baby cereal was gravity-fed into the mill and vacuumed away to downstream feeders. The Quadro® Comil® exceeded the manufacturer's expectations by producing reliable and dependable product which hydrated to the consistency required with very few fines, and at a throughput rate 1.5 times greater than required 4091 kg/hr (9000 lb/hr).
Ten (10) fully scalable Quadro® Comil® models are available for a variety of applications, and dependent upon product capacities can range up to 54,500 kg/hr (120,000 lb/hr). Meets all international safety standards including OSHA/CE/ATEX, and is manufactured to cGMP standards.
