Metz Baking to Purchase Bakery Plant from Eagle Food Centers

Eagle Food Centers, Inc. and Metz Baking Company have signed a letter of intent for Metz to purchase Eagle's Harvest Day Bakery plant, Rock Island, IL. In connection with this transaction, Eagle and Metz will enter into a long-term supply agreement for the production of Eagle's corporate label bread and bun products.

Eagle Food Centers, Inc. is a regional supermarket chain headquartered in Milan, IL, operating 90 stores in northern and central Illinois, eastern Iowa and northwestern Indiana under the trade names of Eagle Country Markets, Eagle Country Warehouse, Eagle Food Centers and BOBO's Food and Deals.

Metz Baking Company, headquartered in Deerfield, IL., is a retail bread company serving 16 states in the Midwest. Metz is a subsidiary of Specialty Foods Corporation.
