McCormick Offers New Non-Allergen Nut Flavors
McCormick Flavor Division, a unit of McCormick & Co., Inc., has introduced a line of non-allergen nut flavors in response to the problem of food allergens, which affects almost 4 million people in the United States. Tree nuts and ground nuts are two of the eight food allergens that cause 90 percent of all food allergic reactions. Nut allergies are especially problematic for children.
McCormick's non-allergic nut flavors include peanut, walnut, hazelnut, and cashew and are available in water soluble, oil soluble, and encapsulated forms. The flavors can be used in a variety of baked goods and frosting, in dairy applications such as ice cream and yogurt, and in hard candy.
