McCain Foods To Rebuild Florenceville Facility
Florenceville, NB - McCain Foods will rebuild its current potato processing plant in Florenceville, N.B. Construction of the new C$70 million facility will begin in the spring of 2007 and is scheduled to be completed by September 2008.
The current two-line operation will be transitioned to a one-line operation early in the new year to enable the new state-of-the art processing line to be constructed adjacent to the existing facility. It is expected that any full-time employees who may be displaced during the transition will be offered alternate employment at other operations in the Florenceville manufacturing and distribution complex.
McCain Foods (Canada) President and CEO Fred Schaeffer said in making the announcement, "This new facility represents a significant investment in our potato processing business and is reflective of our expectation for continued growth in one of our core businesses." Mr. Schaeffer continued, "This announcement comes on the heels of our recent decision to renovate our head office, also in Florenceville, signalling our clear commitment to the communities of Carleton County, N.B."
