McCain Foods to Build French Fry Plant in Poland
McCain Foods Ltd. (Toronto) has said that it plans to build a $78.6 million (Canadian) potato-processing facility in Wroclaw, Poland.
Construction of the state-of-the-art frozen french fry plant will begin immediately, chairman Harrison McCain said in a statement. It will be in production by spring of 1999.
"We are satisfied that the farmland in the Wroclaw area of Poland is capable of supplying the highest quality processing potatoes," said company president and chief executive Howard Mann.
McCain Foods has plants in 10 other countries on four continents. The company also makes frozen pizzas, potato specialties, desserts, juices and beverages, and oven meals.
