Lyco's Traveling Truck Demonstration A Hit With Food Processors

Lyco Manufacturing's mobile equipment display provides a convenient, hands-on opportunity for food processors to see the company's latest production-size cooking and cooling technology in operation, right at their front door.

Commercial food processors can now experience a live presentation of advanced technology in commercial cooking and cooling equipment, right at their own front door. Lyco Manufacturing has taken its latest innovations on the road directly to food processors – its Clean-Flow blancher/cooker, and its Easy-Flow cooler – mounted in a product-interactive, 36-foot traveling truck display.

Clean-Flow is one of the most automated, effective and rapid clean-in-place commercial cooking systems available, making it possible for rapid changeovers and multiple production runs per day. Easy-Flow is the most efficient food processing water cooling system on the market, capable of stopping the cook cycle on most food products in under 10 seconds.

Lyco's staff demonstrates full production-size versions of the equipment on the truck. When it visits a plant, it parks outside and its staff spends several hours showing hands-on how the equipment works. The demonstration is totally self-sufficient, requiring no utilities from the companies it visits.

The traveling truck presentation is an expansion of Lyco's popular technology open house that it held in mid-2009, where it showcased its latest developments in cooking and cooling equipment for the food industry.

"We had a great turn-out at the open house," says Steve Hughes, CEO of Lyco. "For those that couldn't attend we decided to take the equipment to them."

Lyco has visited about 50 food processors since it launched the program in November, traveling from New York to California.

"The response to the traveling truck has been phenomenal," continues Hughes. "It is not unusual for 20 to 25 people to come out and see the demonstration – production people, engineering, maintenance and sanitation personnel, company owners, presidents and vice presidents. They all seem to really enjoy the show."
