Loma Launches IQ3+ Variable-Frequency Metal Detector With Graphical User Interface

Carol Stream, IL - The recently launched IQ3 variable frequency metal detector from Loma Systems, Inc. is now offering a new model with an upgraded graphical user interface. The new IQ3+ targets manufacturing environments in which the maximum amount of performance is needed with a minimum amount of user training.
The IQ3+ also offers a solution for plants with a culturally-diverse workforce where multiple primary languages are spoken. The touch screen is driven by graphics and simplifies communication and operation issues. (It also offers a language-based interface with multiple choices and user ID options with varying levels of security access.)
This new capability offers another benefit to the IQ3's already robust technology. The unit gives users both state-of-the art sensitivity and stability. Packagers with multi-product requirements will now have a higher degree of metal detecting accuracy and flexibility than previously possible.
Historically, metal detectors were designed to operate on a single frequency which was calibrated to specific product characteristics. In recent years, the introduction of two- and three-frequency units expanded those capabilities somewhat, but had the tendency to deliver statistically compromised results.

The introduction of the IQ3 variable frequency metal detector dramatically alters the way a metal detector functions. The IQ3 analyzes "product affect" (temperature, moisture, salt content, speed, packaging material, etc.), reviews a broad band of frequencies and offers the right one for the specific application within seconds. This frequency selection also removes operator error from the equation and allows a broad variety of products to be run through the same unit.
The IQ3's state-of-the art capabilities are made possible by the latest in case and coil geometry which deliver a quantum leap in immunity from vibration, electrical interference and thermal shock. In turn, this enables increased stability which means fewer false positives. Additionally, improved sensitivity delivers an even greater capability to detect metal contaminants. Further, the IQ3 is built to withstand the harshest of operating environments.
With increased flexibility, the IQ3 metal detector can easily be adapted to new products or switched to other production lines or manufacturing plants. Faster delivery times are also possible because the units no longer need detailed product information before they are built.
