Klöckner Pentaplast To Display New Packaging Materials At Expo Pack '05

New Pentafood® Anti-Fog APET films
A new line of Pentafood® anti-fog APET film is now available from Klöckner Pentaplast. The film's anti-fog agents inhibit the formation of condensation inside the food package once it has been sealed. The film is ideal for packaging refrigerated foods where clarity and product freshness are critical.
Ideally suited to form/fill/seal equipment, Pentafood® FDA compliant anti-fog films have excellent rigidity, thereby, eliminating the problem of film stretching for consistent tracking on the forming line. The superior rigidity of the film provides time and production cost savings.
New Pentafood® Freezer Grade Vinyl Films
A new line of Pentafood® FD-M188/22 vinyl films offering exceptional cold crack properties for food packaging applications is now available from Klöckner Pentaplast. Pentafood® FD-M188/22 films offer a freezer-safe thermoformable film which is ideally suited to form/fill/seal food packaging applications.
Pentafood® FD-M188/22 film's superior rigidity allows for excellent package integrity and increased productivity resulting in production cost savings. In addition, Klöckner Pentaplast's FDA and HPB compliant Pentafood® FD-M188/22 films have excellent cosmetics for superb product visibility. The films are heat sealable to many substrates and are radio frequency (RF) sealable.
New Pentaprint® High-Shrink PETG Films With Frosty Look
The Pentaprint® product line of shrink-label films has been extended to include Pentaprint® high-shrink PETG film with a frosty look for full-body shrink-sleeve label applications. The film is engineered to provide a frosty appearance on glass, thereby offering a cost-effective, shrink-sleeve film alternative to acid-etched glass containers. The special appearance of the film will allow customers to eliminate the need for a base color and complex ink lay-down techniques providing additional savings. Klöckner Pentaplast is the only global supplier to offer this film.
The new frosty look Pentaprint® PETG film has 78% shrink properties and is ideal for products requiring uniform shrinkage control of full-body shrink sleeves for highly contoured bottles and containers. The film is suitable for use with glass or plastic containers. As with all Pentaplast shrink films, this new film offers excellent gauge control, lay flat properties, ink adhesion, and seaming ability. The Pentaprint® films are suitable for flexographic and gravure printing processes.
New Pentaprint® High-Yield PETG Shrink-Label Films
The Pentaprint® product line of shrink-label films has been extended to include Pentaprint® high-yield PETG films for full-body shrink-sleeve label applications. This polyester film has an improved yield over standard PETG shrink-label films available in the marketplace today. The Pentaprint® high-yield PETG films provide significant cost savings due to increased yields; thereby providing a more cost-effective polyester shrink-label film. Klöckner Pentaplast is the only global supplier to offer this film.
The new Pentaprint® high-yield PETG film has 70% shrink properties. The film is engineered for products requiring excellent uniform shrinkage for full-body shrink sleeves and multi-packs. In addition, the lower specific gravity of the films improves the ability, during recycling, to effectively segregate the labels from the bottle flake in water separation processes.
This high-opacity white film offers a base for brilliant graphics to achieve label appeal. As with all Pentaplast shrink films, this new film offers excellent printability, gauge control and lay-flat properties for ease of printing and application of the labels. The Pentaprint® films are suitable for flexographic and gravure printing processes.
New Pentaprint® Vinyl ROSO Label Films
The Pentaprint® product line of label films has been extended to include an improved Pentaprint® L282/41 vinyl roll-on shrink-on (ROSO) label film for wraparound label applications. The new and improved Pentaprint® L282/41 film has 53% shrink properties, as compared to 45% when the film was introduced in fall 2004. Unlike competitive films available in the marketplace today with shrinkage in the low 20% range, Pentaprint® L282/41 film has substantially higher shrink properties than other heat-stable films. Klöckner Pentaplast is the only global supplier to offer this film.
Pentaprint® L282/41 ROSO film allows customers to take advantage of the high visibility and superior graphics of shrink-label films with the ease of modifying existing wraparound label machinery; therein providing significant capital savings. Available in 50-micron clear or white film, Pentaprint® L282/41 film is suitable for use with quick setting solvent adhesives and gravure or flexographic printing processes. In addition, clear Pentaprint® L282/41 film allows for reverse printing of the graphics which provides ink protection. As with all Pentaplast shrink films, this new film offers excellent gauge control, lay flat properties, clarity, ink adhesion, and seaming ability.
New Pentaseal® High-Clarity, Heat-Seal Coated Vinyl Films
A new line of Pentaseal® heat-seal coated vinyl films is now available from Klöckner Pentaplast. Pentaseal® films provide a destructive seal with excellent package clarity properties for superior product visibility and a pilfer-proof closure. Combining Pentaseal® films with Pentaform® thermoforming films allow full packaged product visibility without sacrificing seal integrity.
Pentaseal® films combine the high clarity of light-gauge vinyl packaging films with the permanent bond strength of traditional lidding materials. Other competitive heat-seal coated vinyl films do not offer the same level of clarity as Pentaseal® films. In addition, Klöckner Pentaplast's Pentaseal® films provide excellent processability which is ideal for high-speed form/fill/seal machinery. Plans to expand the line to include polyester and other light gauge base films are in development.
New Pentaform® High-Performance Thermoforming Films
The Pentaform® line of custom formulated thermoforming films has been extended to include the new high-performance Pentaform® rigid vinyl films for face-seal blister and clamshell packaging applications.
The new Pentaform® films allow for a broader, more forgiving temperature range during the thermoforming process, thereby reducing the potential for thermoforming problems and increasing productivity. The new film is well suited for use in pilfer-proof, high visibility, and RFID capable packaging, as well as a broad spectrum of products that require blister pack, clamshell, two-part clamshells, club packs, and tray applications.
Pentaform® high-performance vinyl films have enhanced material flow and distribution in the formed part as compared to traditional thermoforming films. The improved material flow and distribution allow for more efficient material flow making sidewalls thicker around the formed part resulting in a superior formed part. These Pentaform® films allow customers to get in and out of short and long runs faster by reducing the number of poorly formed parts, which opens up thermoforming machine time for other orders resulting in higher thermoformed part throughput and cost savings. These films also provide optimal down gauge potential for even further material cost savings.
New Pentaform® High-Yield PETG Films
The Pentaform® film product line has been extended to include Pentaform® E778/85 5C/8900 high-yield PETG film for general-purpose thermoform packaging. Pentaform® E778/85 5C/8900 film provides a 30% improvement in yield over standard PETG film available in the marketplace today. Improved yield and faster processing speed allow customers to achieve cost savings through production efficiency. Klöckner Pentaplast is the only global supplier of high-yield PETG film.
Ideal for tray and display packaging, Pentaform® high-yield PETG film's opacity enhances product display and is available in 20-mil to 40-mil thickness. Pentaform® high-yield PETG films have a proprietary embossed surface appearance which promotes excellent denesting for improved processability.
Pentaform® Re-sealable APET Films
The Pentaform® film product line has been extended to include Pentaform® TH-E771/00 APET film and is now available from Klöckner Pentaplast of America, Inc. Pentaform® TH-E771/00 film is a unique RF sealable, high-clarity APET film specifically designed for RF sealing, unlike typical APET films available in the marketplace today. Pentaform® TH-E771/00 film has consistent RF sealability characteristics across a broad range of RF sealing equipment.
Pentaform® TH-E771/00 film is ideally suited for high-visibility pilfer-proof club packs, which require high clarity to promote high product visibility. Pentaform® TH-E771/00 films offer good machinability and die-cutting properties for ease-of-use. This film is available with optional silicone coating and/or internal denest. Pentaform® TH-E771/00 APET film scrap generated during the thermoforming process can be directly recycled into the customer's normal APET rework stream utilizing existing equipment and is fully recyclable.
Pentastat® Conductive Syrenic Control Films
The Pentastat® product line of ESD packaging films has been extended to include Pentastat® WHMS-10 black conductive styrenic alloy film for difficult packaging applications of static-sensitive electronic products. Used in an array of carrier tape, tray, and disk drive applications, Pentastat® WHMS-10 films provide ncreased melt strength for easier thermoforming while maintaining excellent ESD properties independent of relative humidity.
Pentastat® WHMS-10 conductive styrenic films are engineered to offer surface uniformity for easy processing and superior performance and physical protection of packaged product. These recyclable films are a cost effective alternative to carbon coated and IDP (inherently dissipative polymer) film products. Pentastat® WHMS-10 films maintain a surface resistivity of 104-107 ohms and are inherently volume resistive. In addition, Pentastat® WHMS-10 films have superior gauge control and low outgassing and corrosivity.
Pentaclear® and Pentaprint® Dynox® Treated Films
Two new lines of Pentaclear® and Pentaprint® vinyl films with a proprietary Dynox® surface treatmentare now available from Klöckner Pentaplast. The Dynox® treatment provides superior ink adhesion for use with UV ink systems for a variety of print and folding carton applications. Available in rolls or precision cut sheets, these vinyl films eliminate the customer's need to apply a primer coat for ink adhesion prior to the printing process, as well as a varnish top coating for scratch protection of the ink, resulting in overall cost and time savings. Dynox® treatment provides film surface energy values in excess of 45 dyne/cm, which is substantially higher than untreated vinyl. Klöckner Pentaplast is the exclusive global supplier of Dynox® surface treated films.
Unlike corona treatment, Dynox® treatment will not wash or wear off with normal handling and has a much longer shelf life. Klöckner Pentaplast provides a one-year shelf-life guarantee for all its Pentaclear® and Pentaprint® Dynox® treated vinyl films.
The traditional Pentaclear® and Pentaprint® vinyl film benefits of excellent gloss and clarity, superior gauge control, dimensional stability, smooth surface, and lot-to-lot consistency apply to these films and result in enhanced productivity for the printer. These new Dynox® treated films can be used in all types of printing methods including offset litho, flexographic, and silkscreen. Dynox® treated films are available with one- or two-sided treatment and a gloss/gloss surface.
BAREX® Thin Film
A new line of BAREX® acrylonitrile copolymer thin film offering oxygen barrier, chemical resistance, flavor and fragrance retention, and excellent sealability is now available from Klöckner Pentaplast. Klöckner Pentaplast already has many years of experience in calendering and extruding rigid BAREX® film. The company is the only global producer of blown, calendered, and extruded BAREX® film and sheet.
Typically incorporated into multi-layer laminations for pharmaceutical, medical device, food, cosmetics, and general-purpose consumer and industrial packaging applications, BAREX® thin films provide the best mono-layer barrier packaging available on the market, with optimum strength and superior chemical resistance. Allowing customers to utilize one film, rather than several different polymers to cover the same range of properties as BAREX® film, reduces product complexity and cost. The benefits of oxygen barrier, chemical resistance, and flavor and fragrance retention combined with excellent sealability is a unique combination of properties for specialty barrier applications. Klöckner Pentaplast BAREX® thin films utilize BAREX® 210 grade resin from BP Chemicals, Inc., and are available in 1.25 to 5 mils gauge. BAREX® sheet products utilize BAREX® 210, 214, or 218 grade resins from BP Chemicals, Inc., and are available in 5 to 50 mils gauge.
Klöckner Pentaplast BAREX® thin films are gamma, E-beam, and EtO sterilizable. The film is listed in the FDA's Type III Drug Master File and complies with all applicable direct food contact regulations. BAREX® thin films are also available with corona treatment.
