Kashi Company Announces New Line Of TLC Crunchy Granola Bars

Product Launch Expands Company's Healthy Snack Food Offerings

La Jolla, CA - Kashi Company, the premier natural food products company, announced the addition of TLC Crunchy Granola Bars to its successful snack product line. The bars are the first Kashi product in the crunchy granola bar segment, and the first natural brand in the category as well. Kashi unveiled the bars at the Natural Products Expo West tradeshow held in Anaheim, Calif., from March 23 - 26.

"People assume that granola bars are healthy, but the ingredients and nutrition typically don't reflect that assumption," says Jeff Johnson, brand manager and nutritionist for Kashi. "As a company passionate about positive nutrition, Kashi felt there was a void in the marketplace for a crunchy granola bar that tasted good and was truly good for you."

The TLC Crunchy Granola bars will be sold in stores beginning in May and will be available in Honey Toasted 7 Grain, Roasted Almond Crunch and Pumpkin Spice Flax varieties. When compared side-by-side with similar products, Kashi's TLC Crunchy Granola bars have twice the fiber, more protein and less sugar than other granola bars on the market, and are free from artificial ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils.

"At Kashi we believe that healthy living begins with healthy eating, but we also understand that the pace of everyday life often forces people to eat on-the-go," says Johnson. "Our TLC snack product line of crackers, chewy granola bars and now crunchy granola bars, provide consumers with a convenient snack that is full of real nutrition."

In addition to the release of the TLC Crunchy Granola Bars, Kashi also announced the expansion of the TLC Chewy Granola Bar line by adding a Cherry Dark Chocolate variety. The Company launched the chewy granola bar line in late 2004, and has had great success with the original Honey Almond Flax, Peanut Peanut Butter and Trail Mix varieties. "Adding to the TLC Chewy Granola Bar line was a natural next step," says Johnson. "The Cherry Dark Chocolate flavor allows people to 'indulge' in a sweet, chocolaty snack that they can feel great about."

Kashi is taking the new TLC granola bar line on the road as part of its Day of Change(TM) tour, a seven month, cross-country campaign designed to help inspire people to make healthy changes in their lives. The Day of Change, which begins in San Diego on April 23, will travel to 14 cities, educating individuals about the benefits of incorporating whole grains into their everyday diet and how to select great tasting foods that provide optimal nutritional benefits.

"We want every person to walk away from their Day of Change experience feeling inspired to make a commitment to achieving a healthy lifestyle and better informed on how to make those changes," says Johnson. "Our TLC granola bar line is a great example of how easy it is to make simple changes that can have a significant impact on health and wellness."
