In 1975, Tom Dickson, the company founder, revolutionized the way homemakers would forever mill wheat into flour. By combining a versatile vacuum cleaner motor with a rotor and stator micronetic milling chamber, Tom was able to quickly and efficiently mill wheat. The K-TEC Kitchen Mill provided the infant company the start it needed.

The market was ready for home flour mills. Forty-three thousand mills were produced and sold at retail and through home sales in the first two years alone. The success of the mill led Tom to this challenge-"isn't there an easier way to make bread?" This quest led to the development of a multi-function bread mixer, blender, and food processor, which brought the home kitchen into the computer age. Known today as the CHAMP 2000, this versatile food processor is right at home in any kitchen

Always the visionary, Tom saw the birth of the smoothie market on the horizon. The blender on the Champ was superior to other blenders on the market and commercial smoothie operators were using the Champ 2000 in their stores. Tom went back to the drawing board.

Introduced in 1995, the Champ High Performance was introduced as the first blender on the market with a microprocessor chip. Pre-programmed blending cycles direct a powerful 3-peak horsepower motor to change speeds and times, automatically assuring perfect blending consistency. This technology launched K-TEC into the commercial blender industry. Today, the Blendtec family of commercial blenders can be seen at leading smoothie and coffee shops throughout the world.
