J.M. Smucker Implements Oracle CPG Software

The J.M. Smucker Co. (Smucker's) is implementing the Oracle CPG software package, engineered specifically for the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry to provide an integrated enterprise-wide system for enterprise resource planning. Smucker's expects Oracle CPG to help the company save $30 million in hard, soft and "cost-avoidance'' dollars.

"Oracle CPG gives us an integrated system to replace our homegrown legacy systems, and will let us standardize our business processes across the enterprise, from consolidation of financial statements to how we schedule and plan production,'' said Richard Smucker, company president.

Oracle CPG offers an integrated system that brings together packages from Manugistics, for supply chain management; Industrie-Matematik International Corp. (IMI) for order management and logistics; Indus International for plant maintenance and asset management; and Oracle Corp. for process manufacturing, financial management, sales and marketing analysis and decision support.

"This is a classic example of how Oracle's unique development approach is providing CPG companies like Smucker's with a fully integrated, flexible system that accommodates their unique business needs,'' said Nimish Mehta, Oracle's senior vice president, industry applications division.

Smucker's manufactures and markets food products such as fruit spreads, dessert toppings, syrup, juice beverages, condiments, and gift packages.
