The Waterlink MTS Jet Aeration System is well suited for use in deep tanks of 24 ft. high or greater. As land becomes more and more costly, many industries are seeking pollution control facilities with the smallest possible footprint. In the past, most tanks in the industry range from 14 ft. to 16 ft. deep and between 28 ft. and 32 ft. diameter but this practice is changing. An increase in tank size from 16 ft. depth to 32 ft. depth results in an approximate 40% reduction in the air requirement as well as a reduction in tank surface area, both of which are important considerations in controlling VOC emissions.

The use of jet aerators in deep tanks is particularly attractive because the aerators can be designed with no submerged moving parts and require virtually no in tank maintenance. The use of jets allows the designer to separate the mixing process from the aeration process, which provides additional flexibility and proves extremely useful for treating wastes that are highly variable. In addition, recirculated wastewater is expelled through the jet nozzle at a high velocity and draws low-pressure air into the jet discharge. Such a design puts all of the mechanical equipment in a position where it can be maintained at ground level away from the process fluid.
