Inspecting Snack Foods Through Metalized Film Packaging

Metallized films are plastics containing a thin layer of aluminum metal. These films have improved barrier properties to moisture, oils, air, and odors. Additionally, the highly reflective surface of the aluminum is attractive to consumers.  However, these properties present challenges to food inspection equipment. This article will examine how to overcome the challenges of inspecting snack foods in metallized film packaging.
