How To Effectively Recycle Waste Confectionery
Confectionery may require reclamation or reworking for a number of reasons, for example when products are rejected for being misshapen or out of specification. The high cost of sugar and cocoa means it’s important to try to reclaim “off-spec” product.
With a Silverson mixer waste confectionery of all shapes and sizes can be rapidly disintegrated and re-dissolved so waste confectionery can easily be reclaimed rather than scrapped.
Silverson’s specially developed reclamation plant featured in the video is equally effective on hard sugar candy, gelatine and gum based sweets, chocolate waste and fillings such as biscuit or wafer which can be added to the mixing vessel without the need for pre-treatment.
The high shear mixing action of a Silverson mixer draws the solids into the workhead and literally smashes them to pieces, reducing the solids down so solubilization is completed in a matter of minutes at lower temperatures – reducing process time and costs.
