FMC FoodTech Introduces Newest Breading Applicator in XL Series

International Poultry Exposition - ATLANTA, January 22, 2003 - FMC FoodTech introduces the newest addition to its line of XL Series Breading Applicators from Stein*DSI, the world leader in coating, frying and cooking equipment. The XL-40A, which has been designed with improvements to its hydraulics, safety switches, flour dust containment, cleanability and sanitation, is being introduced today at the International Poultry Exposition.

The XL Breading Series is a high-production, fully convertible breading applicator. It can be purchased in a variety of configurations to handle the full range of breading materials available today. In addition to free-flowing, it can handle flour coatings and Japanese-style crumbs. The XL Series offers high-volume production capacity in a quickly convertible design that makes it possible to run all types of breadings.

With its newly designed features, the new XL-40A promotes a clean operating environment and better cleanability and sanitation. The breader's dust containment hoods have been incorporated to encompass the entire machine, its blower tubes have been moved further away from the discharge end and the auger housings and clamping mechanisms have been made sturdier to reduce the amount of dust expelled from the machine. Though the XL Series has been known for its easy accessibility for thorough cleaning, the XL-40A has taken cleanability and sanitation to an even higher level. The XL40A breader features an XL frame with tapered sides and only one pressure roll. The hopper and sprinkle conveyors have been merged, all hydraulic piping is stainless steel and all electrical wires have been routed through conduits.

"The new XL-40A offers all of the proven features that have made our XL Series Breading Applicators the first choice for food processors for years," said Jan Gaydos, director of marketing in North America for FMC FoodTech. "The numerous improvements we have made to the XL-40A make it the most efficient, hygienic and high-quality breader on the market."

Modifications made to the design of the XL-40A include completely re-designed stainless steel fittings and stainless steel pressure compensated Parker valves. This simplistic design results in easy expansion and interchangeability of parts. The XL-40A features a reduced number of safety switches that have been made studier, more tolerant to misalignment and located unobtrusively. The increased reliability of these switches will decrease the length of equipment downtime.

The XL-40A Breading Applicator is currently undergoing product testing at FMC FoodTech's Food Processing Technology and Training Center in Sandusky, Ohio. FMC FoodTech representatives will at the International Poultry Exposition in Atlanta, Georgia, January 22-24, 2003, at Booths 506, 611 and 617 to answer any questions about the breader.
