FDA Establishes Food Labeling Compliance Date

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is establishing Jan. 1, 2002, as the uniform compliance date for food labeling regulations that are issued between Jan. 1, 1999, and Dec. 31, 2000. FDA periodically announces uniform compliance dates for new food labeling requirements to minimize the economic impact of label changes. On Dec. 27, 1996, FDA established Jan. 1, 2000, as the uniform compliance date for food labeling regulations that issued between Jan. 1, 1997, and Dec. 31, 1998.

This regulation is effective Dec. 23, 1998. Written comments must be submitted by Mar. 8, 1999.
