Additional length-to-diameter ratios are available due to the system's modular design. Barrel segments are each equipped with cavities for circulating thermal fluids for heating and/or cooling. According to the company, the ratio of area of thermal fluid contact to the area of extrudate contact provides the highest thermal heat transfer rates possible, improving process control by assuring precise control of product temperature/time history.
The system features totally re-engineered screws, proprietary stainless steel alloy barrel components, and a preconditioner that is said to increase extruder capacity, efficiency, and product quality.
