Ensuring High Quality, Demineralized water for Beer Brewing
Quality and taste are the hallmarks of great beers, and Amstel Beer is known worldwide as a brand that stands for brewing excellence. At Amstel's brewery in Zarka, Jordan, high quality water with a low mineral content is an essential ingredient in brewing the perfect beer. The well water, which was to be used as the feedwater source, was too high in minerals to be used in the brewing process, and a reliable water purification solution was sought.
The Solution:
High Quality Treated Water with Ionics EDR
After an extensive technical comparison between electrodialysis reversal (EDR), reverse osmosis (RO) and ion exchange was made by the Dutch consulting firm, Invetic B.V., Ionics' EDR technology was chosen as the highest quality water treatment solution for Amstel's beer brewing needs in Jordan.
EDR's benefits for this application include its ability to remove 90% of the TDS, long membrane life, and high water recovery-achieving recovery of 85% of the feed as product water. Previously, while utilizing an RO system, the brewery experienced many operational problems and high membrane replacement costs.
To enhance demineralization, Ionics, IncorporatedEDR system utilizes Ionics' new high performance membrane stacks. For this brewery and for the beverage industry worldwide, Ionics, IncorporatedBrand of advanced water purification solutions translates into great taste.
