Integral Drop-Down Band Can be Color-Matched to Closure, Label

Philadelphia, PA - CROWN Closures Europe, an affiliate of Crown Holdings, Inc., announces the release of its new SuperPlus™ closure, featuring a bi-material moulded insert, for glass packaging.

In 2005, food processors partnering with CROWN Closures Europe will be able to add the latest innovation in closure technology to their glass packaging. Crown's SuperPlus™ closure brings an entirely new level of food safety, flexibility and tamper evidence to the food industry.

The SuperPlus™ closure is fully compliant with all EU and FDA migration standards as the new gasket contains no PVC, ESBO, ADC, or 2-EHA. SuperPlus™ metal closures provide dual tamper evidence by combining a vacuum button with a plastic tamper-evident band. This drop-down band eliminates the need for secondary packaging such as shrink films or paper tabs and can be colored to match the closure and label. The closures are completely recyclable through conventional systems.

Easily adaptable to different markets, SuperPlus™ closures run on the same high-speed capping equipment (over 1000 caps per minute can be applied) used for Crown's PT and PT+ closures and works with the same glass finish, enabling easy plant transition. SuperPlus™ closures are suitable for both pasteurization and sterilization, enabling food packagers to keep one type of closure on hand. Reduced inventories mean simplified logistics and lower costs.
