Compact Case Palletizer Maximizes Line Speeds

Priority One Packaging Machinery's new Patriot 8000 case palletizer forms two rows and two layers of cases simultaneously for loading onto one pallet. This industry-first capability maximizes line speed while reducing the equipment footprint. The palletizer increases line speed by forming two pallet layers at the same time as it diverts incoming cases into two different lanes to build alternating rows. Since the unit shares the function of row and layer formation between two distinct operations, the result is gentle product handling.

The compact Patriot 8000 can handle up to 80 cases per minute and accommodate a variety of pallet patterns with quick tool-less changeover. Incoming cases are divided into two streams to form two rows simultaneously. An interwoven conveyor transfers each row to one of two layer forming areas. Each of the completed layers are then transferred, one at a time, to the waiting pallet.

By alternating the stacking of rows and layers between two operations, each operation handles only half the total production infeed. This results in product handling that is gentle enough for delicate products and decorative cases, as well as durable goods. Use of an interwoven conveyor to transfer the rows to the layer formation area eliminates the damage caused by flight bars and pushing mechanisms.

The unit can quickly and accurately change over to handle a wide range of carton sizes without the need for tools or manual adjustments. Mechanical adjustments are pre-programmed into the PLC and a touch screen control panel features an intuitive operator interface.

Improved load stability and product to pallet registration of 1/4 inch result from the palletizer's solid pallet elevator platform and four squaring side dams that regulate layer placement and enhance pallet control. Designed to perform in continuous-operation environments, the Patriot 8000's simple design and robust construction minimize maintenance and increase production efficiency. Its smooth performance reduces machine vibration, which leads to enhanced machine durability and quiet operation.
