Chiquita-ENZA Establish Chile Joint Venture

Chiquita Brands International, Inc., Cincinnatti, OH, and the New Zealand Apple & Pear Marketing Board (ENZA) have announced that they have combined their existing fresh fruit packing and exporting interests in Chile to establish a new joint venture, Chiquita - ENZA Chile.

Chiquita - ENZA Chile will consist of the existing Chilean fresh fruit packing and export businesses of the partners: Exportadora Chiquita Ltda. and Zeus Services S.A. Wayne Vespoli, currently general managerof Exportadora Chiquita Ltda., will become President of Chiquita - ENZA Chile.

Chiquita - ENZA Chile will be a diversified exporter, with operations throughout Chile, providing services and exports in grapes, stonefruit, apples, pears and kiwis. Combined exports of the two existing companies in this past season were in excess of 10 million boxes. Marketing affiliates of Chiquita and ENZA around the world will provide sales and marketing management from offices in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Fresno, Philadelphia, Wilmington, London, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bremen, and Singapore.
