Bush Boake Allen Expands Global Aroma Chemical Facilities
Bush Boake Allen Inc. (Montvale, N.J.) has begun planning the construction of a greenfield, $10 million aroma chemical facility at Gummidipoondi, India, near Chennai (Madras).
According to P.C. Mathew, Bush Boake Allen's vice president and general manager for Aroma Chemicals, "the new plant will initially be producing Boisvelone and geraniol derivatives, and will have a rated annual capacity, for those products, of 800 tons.''
Bush Boake Allen is also expanding and improving its aroma chemical facilities in other parts of the world. By the end of 1998, the company expects to complete a two-year, $12 million upgrade of their Widnes, England plant.
This year, the first phase of a $10 million expansion and modernization was completed at the Jacksonville, Florida plant. The company is now beginning to implement the second phase of Jacksonville's modernization, which includes upgrading the pyrolysis unit, installing a new boiler, and a major modernization of Jacksonville's R&D laboratories. In addition, a new distillation column will be added to the geraniol plant, which, along with existing columns, will enable Jacksonville to continuously distill upgraded terpene aroma chemicals.
