At BEST, innovation means not only creating new concepts, but also doing research to retrofit our existing equipment with the latest and greatest, according to customer feedback and needs. The company has a big focus on quality and reliability and is constantly striving to develop advanced, innovative and complete solutions for every sorting challenge imaginable. The investments in R&D are now again showing great results, with the launch of a new version of its Helius free fall sorter.

The Helius continues to be the ideal platform for sorting nuts, fruit, vegetables, etc. But now there is more, it contains, next to the lasers, a new camera for shape recognition, able to, for instance, detect stems on green beans or the H-shape of a walnut, which is important for nut processors supplying to chocolate factories, which need perfectly shaped nuts to put in or on top of the chocolates.

This new configuration is a revolutionary improvement to the existing Helius, it now combines the efficiency of the laser detection on foreign material and discolorations, and the shape recognition on products in free fall.

The existing Helius sorters in the field are easily upgradable at a minimum cost to this new extended version. It has always been the philosophy of BEST, while introducing innovations to ensure existing machines, are upgradable in the field. We do not want to force our existing customers into replacing their existing machines to keep their competitive edge.

The Helius 1200 model can be outfitted with a brand new ejection system, using a smaller pitch, ideal for an improved ejection of products.

Next to that, BEST has a special new optical detection module, designed for the detection of quartz stones amongst raisins. We have seen that the intensive research has paid off and that the special "quartz optics" generates a significant improvement for the detection, independent of the product condition.

The Helius can be equipped with RES, Rear Ejection System, our most advanced reject system designed for the removal of unwanted products with high accuracy and efficiency, lower air consumption and very low false reject.

The Helius sorter will soon also feature OPC (OLE for Process Control) possibilities, for companies who want to integrate it in their complete processing line monitoring.

The new model of the Helius free fall sorter is launched at the IPA fair in Paris on October 17th. Visit the BEST booth in Hall 7, booth number C24 and learn what this revolutionary sorter can do for your business.
