Bayer And Climate FieldView Present The Next Frontier Of Digital Agriculture At Agrishow 2023
Multinational platform reached more than 25 million hectares mapped in Brazil and introduces innovations developed from co-creation with farmers
São Paulo /PRNewswire/ - Innovations to connect the countryside and the use of technology to create possibilities for doing business in Brazilian agriculture will be some of the highlights of Bayer and Climate FieldView, the multinational's digital agriculture platform, at this year's Agrishow. Visitors will be able to see firsthand some of the projects and solutions developed by the company during the agricultural fair that takes place in Ribeirão Preto (SP) between the 1st and 5th of May.
Absolute leader in the Brazilian market, Climate FieldView currently maps more than 25 million hectares in Brazil – equivalent to almost half of the entire area destined for soy planting in the country, the world's largest producer of the oleaginous plant. Worldwide, the platform is present in 23 countries and monitors more than 89 million hectares.
The event is an opportunity to show producers everything Bayer has been working on to deliver new technologies and disruptive innovations to Brazilian agriculture, according to Alexandre Pimenta , leader of Climate FieldView in Latin America.
"We have been less and less mere providers of solutions. We are in the process of acting as drivers of digital transformation in the field, bringing even more information, analyzes and science-based recommendations to the farmers' business", says Pimenta. "Our goal is to support farmers in decision-making during every moment of the harvest so that they can extract the best from their crops based on innovative, efficient and more sustainable solutions", he adds.
The Climate FieldView stand at Agrishow will feature an Innovation Room, where it will be possible to learn about Bayer's most recent advances in the digital agriculture segment and have a first contact with Climate Labz projects, a co-creation initiative created by the company that develops new projects and functionalities based on working in partnership with customers.
"We know that innovation is, in essence, a collaborative process. Having the opportunity to share with visitors everything we develop in co-creation with our clients at the Climate Labz is a way of showing how we place ourselves alongside producers to address their real needs" , says the leader of Climate FieldView.
Some of the initiatives presented in the room will be a pilot project for controlling nematodes, intelligent reports on agricultural machinery and even new business models, such as Barter+ Powered by FieldView — the latest modality launched by the company, which customizes transactions made via Barter according to with data from the property of each farmer.
Those who pass by the multinational's stand will also be able to learn more about other innovative business models that are only viable from the use of digital tools in agriculture. Among them, it will be possible to follow the most recent advances of PRO Carbono, a program that encourages the intensification of conservationist practices in agriculture to increase sustainability, productivity and profitability in farming. Part of the Carbono Bayer initiative, which has more than 5,000 participating farmers in 10 countries, PRO Carbono is already present on properties in 16 Brazilian states.
Another example is Bayer VAlora Corn, a program in the pre-commercial phase that seeks to optimize the population density of corn seeds based on personalized recommendations for each production environment, based on data and science models prepared by the company. One of the participating clients in Campo Mourão (PR), for example, obtained a gain of 12.6 bags/hectare in the winter season last year when adopting the program's recommendation, compared to the farm's standard management.
"The new business models are examples of how the next frontier of innovation in agribusiness goes through the digitalization of the crop. Producers who want to take advantage of the disruptive opportunities that are starting to reach the market in the future need to connect and digitize their properties and decisions now. That's why we say that with FieldView, you connect and evolve", says Abdalah Novaes, leader of digital agricultural solutions at Bayer for Latin America.
Innovation in practice
In addition to getting to know projects that are under development to reach the Brazilian market in the coming years, visitors to Agrishow will be able to understand in practice how the intelligence delivered by Climate FieldView can help solve problems that producers face on a daily basis and, thus, increase their productivity. Televisions spread around the space will show some real cases of using the platform, while four simulators will be available for the public to experience the tool's applications in the planting, harvesting, spraying and soil management processes.
In line with Climate FieldView's priority of helping an increasing number of producers with their tools, during Agrishow it will be possible to see the launch of the FieldView Cab application for Android operating systems, and the FieldView Drive 2.0, a physical device that fits into equipment and collects data from both the machines and the field, transferring it directly to the application so that the producer can access it from anywhere.
For the development of FieldView Cab for Android, the company listened to the needs of rural producers and understood the demand to have a solution available on the market that was easier, simpler and more accessible for everyone, according to Abdalah Novaes. "This is also part of our priority to help more and more farmers, regardless of the size of their properties, allowing everyone to have access to more accurate field data collection, with the support of technology, which is one of our strategic pillars at Bayer," he says. With FieldView Cab for Android, rural producers will be able to download the application on several brands/models of devices available on the market.
FieldView Drive 2.0, currently in the testing phase and expected to be released in 2025, comes with some improvements: it will be a more modern version, with greater processing power and faster information loading speed. In addition, it will bring direct-to-cab data transfer: growers will be able to send a variable rate planting prescription straight to the tractor's cab display.
With an eye not only on presenting disruptive digital solutions, but also on assisting the farmer in training them to use them, during the Agrishow there will be quick classes of up to 15 minutes sponsored by the FieldView University, the company's arm that teaches courses for distributors, sales, farmers and students interested in agriculture 4.0.
Inside the company's stand, visitors can also have a different experience: it will be possible to purchase and pick up products with special commercial conditions directly at the FieldView Shop, the company's physical store at the fair. "This way, the farmer will find everything in one place: he will be able to learn about our solutions, have demonstrations of how they work in practice, ask questions with specialists and end the visit by taking home what he needs to embark on this journey to shape the future of agriculture", says Alexandre Pimenta , leader of Climate FieldView.
Another important moment during the fair will be the opening of registrations for the sixth Women of Agro Award. Visitors and producers who are passing in front of the "Agrishow Para Elas" space, on May 3, at 2:30 pm, will be able to witness a conversation between Luciana Dalmagro, first place winner in the large property category in 2020, Juliana Rezende , winner in first place in the small property category in 2022, and Ana Paula Packer , general head of Embrapa. The chat will be mediated by the digital influencer Aretuza Negri . On the occasion, themes such as the importance of the ESG pillars in agribusiness, the female role in the sector, the registration process for the award, among others, will be addressed.
Crop and seed protection
In addition to news in digital technologies, Bayer will also have a stand at Agrishow within the Coopercitrus space with information on innovations in seeds, biotechnologies and crop protection for soybean, corn, sugarcane, coffee, citrus and hortifruti.
One of the company's novelties this year is Fox Supra , a systemic fungicide being launched by Bayer, ideal for use in controlling diseases in soybean crops. For corn, two innovative products support farmers in some of the main problems in the crop: the insecticide Curbix® , which has a highly efficient contact effect against both leafhoppers and bedbugs, and the nematicide Verango® Prime , for the effective and long-term control of nematodes. During the fair, the producer will also be able to learn about the herbicide for the pre-emergent management of weeds in corn, Adengo® , which works both on wide and narrow leaves.
As for the control of nematodes, Bayer offers Verango® Prime, aimed at soy and corn, with the active ingredient Fluopyram, an innovative molecule that offers effective and long-lasting control, with low dosage per hectare. The broad spectrum of control against the most diverse species of nematodes is fundamental for the management of this pest. Finally, for sugarcane, in addition to Verango® Prime and Curbix 200 SC® ️, producers will be able to learn more about the herbicides Alion ® and Provence® Total, the insecticides Sivanto Prime 200 SL® and Belt®, and the fungicide and biological bactericide Serenade®.
Holder of the most modern biotechnologies in soy and corn, Bayer also presents, during the Agrishow, hybrids and varieties adapted for the whole country. For the corn crop, the producer can obtain more information about the VTPRO4® biotechnology , which delivers high protection against pests in the aerial and root parts, in addition to flexibility in the management of weeds in hybrids with high productive ceilings.
