Aerosol Can Leak Testing
Aerosol packaging is becoming increasingly popular. Widely used for pharmaceutical and household products, aerosol cans have substituted the conventional packaging because they are:
- Convenient
- Easy to Use
- Hygienic
- Efficient
Aerosols cans have an excellent safety record. Individual cans are leak tested both empty and full. The FEA officially recognized leak testing machines as being the adequate alternative to the hot water bath testing as per norm UN/SCETDG/25/INF.93.norm.
Bonfiglioli Engineering have a successful history the KBA and RLD 400A leak testing machines for aerosols. One machine complements the other as explained hereunder.
The KBA series is used for leak testing of empty aerosol cans. This machine has been on the market for a number of years testing aerosol cans at high sensitivity levels and at any line speed.
Features
- Auto Self test feature with calibrated leak
- Testing pressures up to 15 bar
- Very Low energy consumption
- Up to 48 testing heads
- Practically maintenance free
- Computerised data acquisition and machine control systems
With continuous Research and Development and also the excellent results achieved through the large number of such machines in production lines worldwide, Bonfiglioli Engineering KBA series has built its reputation as being the benchmark for leak testing of empty aerosol cans.
Bonfiglioli Engineering's RLD-400 A has been used for leak testing of filled and sealed aerosol cans. Having the can maker test empty cans with our KBA series, the latest modification in the United Nations Standard UN//SCETDG/25/INF.93.norm gives the opportunity for the can filler to leak test the filled and sealed cans with the RLD-400A machine. For the can filler this is a better alternative testing technology replacing the hot water bath test. The advantages are that the machine is less time consuming as containers need not be dried after testing. There is no water and electricity wastage when an aerosol can leaks and contaminates tank water.
Both KBA and RLD 400A are cost effective and low in maintenance cost. They need only one operator usually the same one with the rest of the line.
