Land O'Lakes acquires Beatrice cheese plant

Land O'Lakes has acquired a cheese plant located in Gustine, CA, from the Beatrice Group, a division of ConAgra, Inc. The 70,000-sqft facility processes mozzarella and cream cheese.

Under terms of the sale, Land O'Lakes will enter into a co-packing agreement for cream cheese with Beatrice. Company officials for Beatrice said that the company will remain in the cheese business and will continue to operate in the retail, foodservice and industrial segments with major brands such as Treasure Cave, County Line, Pauly, Munchee and Nikos.

Land O'Lakes' Tulare, CA, facility manufactures cheese, whey, butter/powder and other dairy products in the nation's largest milk receiving facility. Additionally, the company also operates a cheese plant in Orland, CA.
