Cognex To Showcase Line-Up Of Vision Solutions At Total

cd

As the global leader in machine vision technology, Cognex vision systems, sensors and ID readers provide solutions for a huge range of application possibilities in the packaging industry, from product inspection and verification through to full traceability using advanced 1-D and 2-D code readers.

Cognex will be demonstrating a number of products on a conveyor system to check correct packaging using OCRMax® software as well as reading 1-D and 2-D barcodes. First on the conveyor will be the entry level vision system, the In-Sight® 7000 which integrates autofocus, illumination and EasyBuilder® user interface – making it the ideal out of the box solution. Every aspect of the In-Sight 7010 has been designed to make deploying a vision system easier than ever before. It is a completely self-contained vision system that includes autofocus optics and integrated lighting in a compact IP67 rated industrial housing. The In-Sight 7010C version is for colour applications including colour identification, pattern finding and measurement.

Also on the conveyor demo will be the DataMan® 300 fixed mount reader, designed to read the most challenging 1-D linear barcodes and 2-D Data Matrix codes for indexed or high-speed lines. The addition of liquid lens optics allows any DataMan 300 reader to be easily upgraded from fixed focus to autofocus. For presentation reading, tote scanning and small-package sorting applications, the liquid lens can be configured to dynamically sweep through the full focal range of the optics to find and read barcodes over a wide range of working distances.

The Checker® vision sensor is an award winning all-in-one industrial sensor with built in camera, processor, lighting, optics, and I/O capable of detecting and inspecting up to 6,000 parts per minute – all in an industrial IP67 enclosure small enough to fit into the tightest of spaces.

Also featuring will be the VisionView® 900 industrial operator panel for both In-Sight vision systems and Ethernet-ready DataMan barcode readers. The larger 229mm display allows operators to quickly identify issues on the manufacturing line so they can respond promptly; improving quality and reducing downtime.

New to the range, the DataMan 50L is designed for 1-D oriented barcode reading. Small in size but exceptional in barcode reading performance, it measures just 23.5mm x 27mm x 43.5mm and features an IP65-rated housing. Ideal for mounting in very tight spaces on production lines and in machinery, the DataMan 50L is equipped with Hotbars™, a proprietary image analysis technology that delivers the highest read rates in the industry.

The introduction of DataMan 503 has expanded Cognex’s award-winning line of image-based barcode readers for logistics, postal, and retail distribution applications. It is particularly well-suited for applications that have high speeds, wide belt widths, or large variations in package height. Key DataMan 503 applications include:
• High-speed sortation
• Multi-sided tunnel scanning
• Large format presentation scanning.

Also on show will be the new DS1000 3D laser profiling system, which calibrates real-world units of measurement for inspections too difficult to perform with traditional two-dimensional machine vision. The DS1000 is capable of:
• Verifying the presence of low-contrast items in boxes or packages
• Identifying surface defects and chips with low or no contrast
• Calculating volumes and dimensions for food portioning.

To complete the line-up, Cognex will be showing the rugged DataMan 8000 series of readers which offers the industry’s most advanced technology for reading 1-D and 2-D codes regardless of size, quality, printing method or surface, and is the only industrial handheld barcode reader that offers Industrial Ethernet communication and liquid lens technology.
