The famous soup maker has set a lofty goal: reaching $10 billion in sales growth over the next five years. The company’s first step is to launch nearly 200 new products next year

The Campbell Soup Company announced plans to launch more than 200 new products in fiscal 2015 to meet consumers’ changing tastes, preferences, and needs. President and CEO Denise Morrison shared her perspective on the state of the packaged food industry and the consumer environment with investors during a presentation on July 22. Campbell’s plans to strengthen its core businesses, beginning with U.S., by:

  • Revitalizing its shelf-stable U.S. beverages business, led by the V8 brand
  • Delivering stronger growth at Pepperidge Farm
  • Stabilizing its Australian business, including Arnott’s sweet biscuits

Additionally, expansion in new growth segments will be led by the company’s plans to drive innovation in the packaged fresh foods segment, develop the Asia and Latin America markets, and increase product availability to consumers in all product channels.

The following are just a few areas where the company plans to make the biggest impact in 2015:

  • Packaged Fresh

Through Campbell’s Bolthouse Farms brand, the company will launch a refrigerated fruit and vegetables smoothie product, fruit tubes, and veggie snackers products. The company will be utilizing unique flavoring, dairy and non-dairy options, along with unique packaging that appeal to parents and their children alike

  • Organics

The company plans to introduce six new flavors to its premium soup segment. Ready-to-serve packaging not only preserves taste and product freshness, but also appeals to consumers on retailers’ shelves.

  • V8

The staple beverage product of Campbell’s will also see some sprucing up. The company plans to introduce new flavors, as well as retain its share with its original product offerings. Three new varieties — V8 Spicy Mango, V8 Sea Salt & Clam, and V8 Mint & Lime — will update the classic V8 vegetable juice

  • Protein On-The-Go

Plant and animal proteins are all the rage with consumers and Campbell’s plan is to capture this segment in 2015. Consumers will have many options for protein as the company looks to offer new bar and shake products. V8 Protein Shakes varieties include: Chocolate, Vanilla, and Chocolate Raspberry. V8 Protein Bars will launch in Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Pomegranate, and Oatmeal Raisin varieties.

In addition to these areas, Campbell’s also plans to tap into the global snacking trend and expand its growing line of dinner sauces in the easy-dinner category. All-in-all, it is set up to be a busy 2015 for the Campbell Soup Company.
