Source: Analytical Technology, Inc.

Britannia Food Ingredients Ltd. is a speciality fats company for the chocolate, confectionery, biscuit and snack food industries. The company are specialists in providing the demanding fat formulations found within chocolate, ice cream, bakery and snack food products. Located at Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, the business was formed in 1996 and produces a range of oils and fats suitable for a variety of food applications. All are non-hydrogenated and low in trans fatty acids (<1%), while being free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Britannia Food Ingredients, like all manufacturing companies, discharges waste water from its plant, which must be closely monitored to ensure that it does not contain any harmful chemical levels before it enters the sewer. The Water Industry Act 1991 defines any waste water produced in the course of trade or industry as “trade effluent.” Certain trade effluent can adversely affect the sewerage system, the receiving sewage treatment works, the people who work in a sewer and the environment.
