Solid Pipe Designer 98 Software Features Tri-Clover Products

Colorado Process Piping (formerly UHP Process Piping) has released the latest version of its Solid Pipe Design 98, an AutoCAD based software design package designed for manufacturers who design, build, or fabricate sanitary, high purity, HVAC and general piping systems, including the food/beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical industries.

Tri-Clover Inc. (Kenosha, WI) has announced that Solid Pipe Designer 98 will be the exclusive software design package authorized to contain its products and will use Tri-Clover's copyrighted and proprietary dimensional information to draw their fittings, valves and pumps for sanitary and CIP piping systems.

In 1997, Tri-Clover Inc. became the first major manufacturer of stainless steel fittings, valves, and pumps to provide their entire product line in an independent software program.

Through this partnership, Colorado Process Piping customers have been able to draw Tri-Clover Inc. parts parametrically in 3D enabling process designers to produce graphically scaled representations of actual components.

The release of Solid Pipe Designer 98 provides users of Tri-Clover products and design engineers with a more effective, accurate design tool that substantially decreases design time. Users can determine precisely what the finished product will look like, instead of relying on symbols used in similar software packages. In the second quarter of 1999, the software will also include Tri-Clover's BPE compliant fittings.

Software features:

• Pipe can now be stretched while maintaining compliance with minimum and maximum length parameters; it cannot be made smaller than the minimum. End conditions or couplings, plus gaskets or weld gaps are automatically inserted if required, when the length exceeds the maximum.

• The new auto-snap feature causes fittings and piping to align automatically eliminating the user's reliance on the UCS for component orientation. This feature can eliminate the use of construction lines in many cases, making simple work of tasks that could have required the use of considerable skill with AutoCAD.

• BOM can be customized to include a combination of data fields, and can be imported to an Access database or a text file.

• The line numbering utility can change the color of all components on a given pipeline for easy visualization of related components within a complex 3D model.

• The clipping utility can be used to show only a selected portion of a 3D model.

The software works with the following types of fittings and materials:

  • Buttweld/Fusion (Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and PVDF)
  • Socketweld (Carbon Steel, Copper, CPC, CPVC and PVDF)
  • Threaded (Carbon Steel, Malleable Iron, PVC and CPVC)
  • Grooved (AWWA and IPS)
  • Flanged (Cast Iron).

Solid Pipe Designer 98 runs with AutoCAD 14.01

Tri-Clover Inc. manufactures sanitary stainless steel valves, pumps and fittings, as well as automated flow control and Clean-In-Place systems.
