Incorporating Fumed Silica Into Paints And Varnishes Has Never Been Easier

Fumed silica is added to paints and varnishes to adjust the rheology properties and maintain uniform suspension of pigments and additives. Being a light bulk density and difficult-to-wet hydrophobic powder, conventional in-tank, high-shear mixers tend to have difficulty incorporating it quickly and easily. Typical problems associated with conventional mixing technology include insufficient shear and the absence of fluid turbulence, resulting in rafting, tank stratification, long mixing cycles and the inability to breakdown agglomerates.

The Quadro Ytron Powder Disperser eliminates these problems via its single-pass technology. With a one-time application of the correct amount of shear, Quadro's single-pass technology produces repeatable and consistent product, batch-to-batch and avoids over-processing, high viscosity, shear-sensitive products. The Quadro Ytron Powder Disperser reduces batch times by up to 90%. The Powder Disperser entraps less air, thereby eliminating de-aeration time and/or the requirement to install expensive de-aerating equipment. Quadro's CIP (Clean-In-Place) design reduces cleaning time and product waste.
