Marion Mixers Will Be Showing A Sanitary Batch Mixer Ideal For Powder Bulk Applications At The PTXI Show In Chicago
March 4, 2010
Marion Mixers Inc. will be showing a 30 cu.ft working capacity horizontal mixer with paddle-style agitator at the PTXI in Chicago on May 4th-6th 2010. This versatile, sanitary mixer is ideal for process industries such as of food, dairy, chemical, plastic and mineral applications where sanitary conditions are important.
It features a T304 stainless steel trough with internal product contact surfaces polished to #120 and internal fillet welds ground to a minimum #80-grit finish for easy clean-out. The paddle agitator consists of T 304 SS welded arms and welded paddles with a blade clearance set at .030 from the bottom centerline of the trough, considered one of the tightest in the industry. The mainshaft seal is an easy-clean, adjustable, split stuffing box seal with air-purge provision designed to prevent shaft run-out in the seal area, not to exceed .005". The discharge port consists of an 8" diameter butterfly, lever-actuated discharge valve. The powertrain consists of a 20 Hp TEFC, 3P, 60-Hz motor with Dodge shaft mounted reducer. This mixer also includes a stainless steel air manifold system mounted on the down-sweep side of trough and piped into seals with low-pressure regulators and gauges for each mainshaft seal and high-pressure regulator filter for inlet.
Optional features include one high-speed 7.5 Hp chopper motor with tulip-shaped chopper blades. Choppers are often used in conjunction with paddle agitators to
- reduce product size
- incorporate colorants or other minor ingredients
- disperse lumps and agglomerates
- break up liquid-rich shot balls
- open up matted fibrous materials
- disperse pigments
Benefits of the Marion Paddle Mixer
- Thorough mixing - A superior product may be achieved with the combination of the chopper and the unique time-tested paddle blade design.
- Faster mixing - Combines process functions. Mixes and disperses in one operation which means higher production volume.
- Utility Cost Savings - Save on your electric expense by using premium efficient motors and adjustable speed drives in your processing operations.
- Reliability - Proven in use in major processing systems.
Applications
- Mixing blocks of solid shortening (or liquid shortening) into bakery mixes.
- Mixing agglomerated pigments into plastic powder.
- Mixing PVC resins, oily plasticizers, fillers and pigments.
- Mixing resin into compacted asbestos, synthetic fiber, or fiberglass.
- Mixing dry pharmaceutical preparations with thick liquid binders. The choppers break up the liquid-rich lumps and coat the particles to produce a homogenous, compatible mix.
