Case Study: Deltapilot Hydrostatic Pressure Transmitter Meets Challenges Of Soup Production Level Measurement

Source: Endress+Hauser, Inc.
Unreliable level measurements in 600 gallon pre-blend and mix tanks caused quality concerns and an increase in wasted product for a world-wide soup manufacturer.

Application problem
When using a competitor's ultrasonic probe, the foam and steam created from the process caused many problems, including inconsistent output of level. In addition, the application was plagued with electronics failures, compounding difficulties in producing quality soup.

Microwave equipment was also tested, but proved to be faulty due to the shape of the vessels and the different consistencies of foam. Temperature shifts caused a zero point drift during the process cycle when using a competitor's transmitter with a diaphragm seal.
